Python Developer - Glasgow Hybrid or Fully Remote - 35 to 55K plus benefits

Lorien's Glasgow based client, a new branch of a large, very successful US-based organisation looking to disrupt the bioinformatics and life science analysis domain, is currently looking to secure the talents of a Full Stack Python Developer with JavaScript and Typescript skills for a brand new opportunity within their team. Previous work within this exact sector is not necessary, they're simply looking for you to demonstrate an interest in learning about it as you go.

In this role, you'll use your skills to support and develop a key LIMS system as well as their core bioinformatics pipelines, and will work with internal figures as well as external resources to effectively and successfully deliver. You'll also contribute to the design of new systems, building them from the ground up, and enjoy being a key player in a close knit and collaborative function.

As well as the above you'll be:

• Planning and developing the organisation's LIMS and integrating with company-wide systems
• Identifying problems with the existing code and architecture, and both suggesting and implementing improvements as you go
• Liaising and working closely with the Lab team and stakeholders to ensure a smooth SDLC
• Working with other representatives to ensure testing/validation is all performed to regulatory requirements
• Adding to your knowledge of the tooling, systems and sector as you work, and be given plenty of opportunities to train and upskill along the way

What they'd like you to bring to the table:

• Strong software development background and ability to own the success of projects
• Interest and desire to create new and better systems based on your vision
• Skills across Python, JavaScript, Typescript and relational databases (including DB interface creation)
• Background including deployment tools such as Azure DevOps or similar
• Ability to write test scripts and previous dealing with automated testing with tools like Cypress
• Desire to learn new skills, adapt to new challenges and depending on your background, move into a new and exciting sector
