BI Manager

6-month Contract

An opportunity has arisen to join one of our Public Sector clients in the capacity of BI Manager, on a 6-month initial contract.

The main purpose of this role is to ensure the delivery of an industry leading BI, Analytics and insight service that will in-turn drive business performance.

· The role-holder will support the Head of IT with the development of BI and Analytics strategies and manage their implementation.

  • This individual will be responsible for managing the Analytics and Reporting team, ensuring the provision of a range of dashboards and reports to the business.

· The role holder will also work closely with key stakeholders across the business, using descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analysis techniques to develop business insights and make data driven recommendations that will assist in reaching key business goals.

· However success will be measured by the creation of actual business value, achieved by influencing senior stakeholders to implement their recommendations to ensure a positive business impact.

  • A key requirement in this role will be the delivery of a strong self service capability across the business.

  • While technology and reporting is important to this individual, they will recognise this as a means to an end. Developing a deep understanding of the Business and our customers, and being able to tell a compelling story is equally important.

· Act as a champion for an analytical approach to decision making and work to embed this culture across the business.

Key Accountabilities/tasks

Analytics and Insight

  • Support the Head of Pricing & Analytics with the development of BI and Analytics strategies and manage and track their implementation.

  • Use Segmentation as a strategic asset that underpins both our operational customer contact strategy and our commercial and proposition strategy. Develop meaningful insight and be able to communicate this through compelling story telling techniques.

  • Use data and propensity analysis to provide detailed customer profiling and an understanding of future customer behaviours.

  • Create and develop a virtual team of analytics super-users across the business with a view to driving the self-serve agenda. Your role will involve training and motivating this team.

Reporting and BI

  • Work with other members of the team to create a suite of reports that accurately highlight business performance and provide meaningful and consistent data across the Business (single version of the truth).

  • Create an on-going development and prioritisation Roadmap and ensure that this is effectively communicated across the Business.

  • Create and deliver a strategy for Self-service data analytics across the business utilising the business super-users.

  • Work with Senior Management and other members of the team to ensure that we are accurately measuring the most appropriate KPIs of business performance, and that the information is made available through the most appropriate methods to the correct audience, and used to drive improvement and Business success.

  • Ad hoc project and initiative support as required

Data and Technology

  • Use data to drive for operational excellence and process improvements across the Business.

  • Responsible for ensuring that we have a suite of Analytics and BI tools that are appropriate for our business, taking into account our needs and relative size. If required, develop a business case for additional purchases and manage, in conjunction with IT, their integration.

  • Working with others in the team to ensure identification and integration of data from large and complex multiple sources including billing, CRM and data warehousing systems to create integrated views that can be used to drive decision making.

  • Conduct analysis of reports and dataset views to document conclusions and provide sound recommendations based on the evidence and analysis completed.

People Management

  • Manage the BI Reporting Analysts and provide guidance on workload prioritisation.

  • Lead, manage and develop the Analytics and Reporting team, ensuring performance, employee engagement, training and development are key areas of focus.
