To provide project management and business analysis ensuring successful project delivery. The successful candidate will work on projects that have a particular focus on IT infrastructure and networking. The highest priority project to be managed will be one of the clients largest ever IT projects - The Network Replacement Project. This multi-year project will see the replacement of the entire network. The project has been underway for two years and will continue for another year. Project plans are in place and the successful candidate would be responsible for maintaining progress.

Examples of areas that the role could be involved in include:

  • Agile or waterfall infrastructure deployment
  • Business change e.g. business process re-engineering or organisational change
  • IT procurements
  • IT operations migrations
  • Options appraisal and business case development

The role will be involved in all areas of project activity including:

  • Project management
  • Reporting progress and working in collaboration with project sponsors and non-IT business partners
  • Working with business analysts to gather stakeholder requirements
  • Managing network engineers and other technology staff
  • Managing the tasks assigned within the project team ensuring the plan is on schedule
  • Managing both communication and stakeholders
  • Reporting project progress to senior management
  • Maintaining project and resource information in
  • appropriate applications.
  • Maintaining project information on our Projects Web Site
  • Significant experience as a specialist Project Manager working on projects that have delivered transformation to end users, IT infrastructure, software development and/or related projects
  • Relevant project management qualification e.g. APMP, Prince2 or agile certification.
  • Experience of managing multiple concurrent projects
  • Track record of successful project or change delivery
  • Knowledge and experience in installation of IT networking infrastructure
  • Understanding of industry standard Project Management and Business Analysis methodologies
  • Ability to develop and maintain project plans (e.g. in Microsoft Project or equivalent) so that projects are delivered successfully
  • Ability to estimate, identify, secure and manage project resources so that projects deliver within agreed budgets, to agreed standards and to agreed milestones
  • Effective communication skills both oral and written, with the ability to collate and present information to others
  • Proactive and able to demonstrate initiative and sound judgement
  • Experience of leading agile and/or iterative software development projects through releases
  • Experience managing software procurement projects within the public sector including evaluation and implementation
  • Experience working as a programme manager or delivering projects within a programme structure
  • Knowledge and experience working with ITIL based service management best practice
  • Effective use of standard business analysis tools and techniques to communicate with IT and business staff
  • Demonstrable business analysis experience gained in an IT systems environment.
  • Agile business analysis techniques e.g. user stories
  • Relevant business analysis qualification
  • Basic understanding of User Experience (UX) best practice
