IT Support Officer - Edinburgh - Contract

Our Public Sector client are currently recruiting for an IT Support Officer to join on a contract basis.

The successful candidate will have the following skills/knowledge:

  • Vocational Qualifications (N/SVQ3, ONC or equivalent) plus experience in a relevant role OR school education to standard grade
  • Customer support experience
  • Experience of installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and testing Windows, Apple Macintosh and/or Linux desktops, servers and associated peripherals and printers.
  • Practical knowledge of formal project management methodologies
  • Willingness & ability to rapidly learn and develop technical skills through formal and informal methods
  • Must be flexible, approachable and helpful. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, explaining questions, clarifying requirements and providing responses to colleagues/customers who have a wide range of technical ability/confidence
  • Initiative and judgement to resolve many day-to-day problems independently
  • Ability to plan or schedule work for days and weeks, and to respond to changing pressures or environment

Desirable Skills:

  • ITIL v4 foundation certificate
  • Experience of authoring or managing SharePoint sites
  • Experience of current coding languages and tools
  • Experience of installation and support of AV equipment
  • Experience of managing web platforms
  • Experience of supporting research activities in a Higher Education environment using high performance computing systems
  • Experience of using enterprise helpdesk call tracking/management systems
  • Understanding of information security & data protection concepts as they apply to fixed and mobile computing equipment
  • Proactive in identifying and refining work practices in own area
  • Experience of maintaining a safe working environment in accordance with Health & Safety procedures
