Senior BI Developer - Hybrid Working - Insurance Experience - Outside IR35

Our client, a leading global Insurance firm, are currently looking to hire a Senior BI Developer with Insurance experience to join the team for an Outside IR35 contract role. This would be a hybrid working position, with the client site based in London.

As the ideal candidate for this role, you will be a proactive Developer who can push the boundaries of what is possible with data, creating sophisticated dashboards, and leveraging cloud-based data storage solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain intricate Power BI dashboards that provide insight to key business metrics and performance indicators.
• Develop complex SQL queries, views, and indexes to support business operations and reporting needs.
• Construct and implement data modelling solutions following the Kimball methodology to ensure efficient, reliable, and scalable data architectures.
• Write DAX queries for complex data manipulation and analysis.
• Develop and manage Power BI Embedded dashboards, ensuring secure and efficient data delivery to various user types.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and users to understand requirements and translate them into effective BI solutions.
• Implement data quality checks, validation protocols, and provide support for data-related issues.
• Stay up-to-date with latest technology trends in the business intelligence, data analytics, and data warehousing space.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

1. Proven experience as a BI Developer in the Insurance industry.
2. Strong expertise in Microsoft Power BI development and administration.
3. Advanced SQL skills, with experience in building complex views and indexing.
4. Strong understanding and practical experience with the Kimball methodology of data modelling.
5. Proficient in DAX query language for complex data manipulations and calculations.
6. Experience in developing and managing Power BI Embedded solutions.
7. Familiarity with cloud-based data storage solutions such as ADLS Gen2/S3.
8. Confident talking to senior stakeholders, presentation skills and ability to think strategically.
9. Excellent planning and organisational skills and the ability to efficiently, and methodically.

Desirable Skills:

1. Certifications in Microsoft Power BI, SQL, or related technologies.
2. Experience with Python.
3. Familiarity with data privacy regulations and best practices.
