Lead Backend Developer - Manchester (Hybrid remote) £70k-£80k + 10% bonus

This is an excellent opportunity to work on a complex, large scale system that processes 1000's of transactions every second, and handles the massive amounts of data and calculations similar only to those found in a stock exchange.

Based in Manchester city centre (2 days a week in office), this role is paying between £70k and £80k with a 10% bonus.

THE ROLE:

You will be joining one of their specialist teams to focus on the continued improvement and optimisation of this core system, with the overall goal of moving it from monolithic, to a Service Orientated One (SOA).Responsibilities:

  • Leading the development team from a technical perspective
  • Conducting code reviews and ensuring coding standards are adhered to
  • Reviewing the development and testing approach
  • Hands-on involvement with coding
  • System optimisation
  • Engaging with other departmental stakeholders and ensuring that any changes made do not negatively impact the ongoing operation of the systems.
  • Involvement with solution design

Requirements:

  • Experience working on enterprise level systems building .NET and C# based applications, integrating with databases and third-party systems
  • Experience assisting other developers to overcome technical challenges, etc.
  • Experience with WCF and API's
  • Good understanding of software development best practices, architectures, and patterns.
  • Be a proponent of high-quality code and able to demonstrate methods and practises to achieve metrics like high unit test coverage

Beneficial / Desirable:

  • Experience of demonolithing large N-Tier systems into Service Orientated Architecture / Microservices
  • Experience in improving the observability of applications.
  • Willingness to challenge process and existing ways of working
