Insurance Scrum Master - Hybrid - City of London
A leading insurance company are currently looking for a Scrum Master to join the team on a permanent basis from a insurance or financial background.
Key Responsibilities
Works with Product Owner to establish a vision and road map to deliver the outcomes of the programme of work, facilitate the breaking down of initiatives and Epics in to regular cycles of delivery and improve the predictability of delivery
Supports team in the facilitation of the sessions that take the team from goals to story creation and implementation
Works with Product Owner to ensure the relevant stakeholders are aligned with the vision, delivery and progress of delivery
Facilitates team level ceremonies using scrum facilitation methods and techniques
Supports the removal of blockers/impediments in the delivery of outcomes, including collaboration with teams outside of delivery teams, across technology and all areas of the business
Ensures the change management components are part of the delivery in addition to the product and business change delivery
Works as a team in ensuring risk and dependency management is used is integrated as a component of the ongoing and successful delivery of the backlog
Uses retrospectives and other Lean-Agile techniques to implement small changes that lead to demonstrable improvement for the team
Understands the importance of establishing trust and the need to remain neutral when facilitating
Assesses the Agile/Scrum maturity of the team and helps identify areas where coaching may be needed to foster improvement
Builds knowledge and understanding of the product being delivered and seeks opportunities to contribute towards the business goals and outcomes
Develops skills to observe and provide consistent and impactful feedback
Seeks to understand the current mindset and practices and how that aligns or deviates from the desired change
Helps team internalize fundamentals of relevant Agile values, principles, and practices
Guides and coaches the team on how to use Agile/Scrum values and practices to delight customers and achieve business outcomes
Coaches individuals and the team on mindset and behaviour with an emphasis on helping them understand "why" agile works, not just "how" it works
Actively seeks coaching and mentoring from other scrum masters across function and helps support and deliver coaching across portfolio, including facilitation of wider portfolio ceremonies
Desire to learn and develop the knowledge of leadership techniques, understanding the impact it has and attempts to model this behaviour
Stays current with Agility industry trends & explores other perspectives by reading blogs, consuming external media, & actively participating in internal/external Scrum/Agile events
Skills and Experience:
Extensive experience in acting as a scrum master within a team
Scrum Master certification
Experience of working with delivery teams aligned to agile ways of working and creation of business value through business and technical change initiatives
Strong problem solver with ability to work with a team to maximize progress, potential and overall effectiveness.
