Lorien are working with an organisation as they embark on a digital transformation to deliver exceptional services to their clients and suppliers. With this, they are looking for a dynamic and experienced Head of Engineering to spearhead the operation and optimisation of their new AWS SaaS-based platform.

About the Role:

As Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of their application software, platforms, and applications across all environments. You will lead a talented team of engineers across platform, back-end, front-end development, data, and architectural design.

Your expertise will be instrumental in managing their cloud estates, software releases, monitoring, and application support.

A key focus of this role is to establish and embed robust DevOps practices and tools to ensure the safe, swift, and automated deployment of software. You will be accountable for managing IT budgets and driving the adoption of serverless application architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the operation of application software, platforms, and applications across all environments.
• Lead and develop a high-performing team of engineers across various disciplines.
• Manage the cloud estate, ensuring optimal performance and cost-efficiency.
• Implement and oversee DevOps practices and tools for efficient software delivery.
• Drive the adoption of serverless application architecture.
• Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Skills and Experience:

• Proven experience in running production web applications on AWS and/or GCP.
• Solid foundation in software development (Java/Python).
• Deep understanding of DevOps processes and tools.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Expertise in serverless application architecture.
• Proficiency in application performance management tools.
• Proven ability to work effectively in an agile environment.
