Network Engineer - Edinburgh (remote / hybrid if you prefer)

*Remote with only trips into central Edinburgh fix physical issues, or can be a hybrid remote working model if preferred, office in central Edinburgh*

6 Month Fixed Term Contract - view to extend and convert to a more senior permanent role

Lorien's client, the UK's leader in its domain with a strong reputation and a following of tens of thousands of members, is looking for a Network Engineer to join their team on a 6-month Fixed Term Contract basis (with the view to extend and convert into a higher ranking permanent position).

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to join a successful organisation offering not only a great range of rewarding challenges, but remote working (or hybrid in their central Edinburgh office if that's your preference), a great team to work with, and an opportunity to gain some key skills as you go.

Some of the day to day:

  • Taking the reins across the admin and maintenance of key networks and environments
  • Looking after systems and application software, hardware, configurations and backups
  • Ensuring network security to protect key data, software and hardware by forming and putting in place relevant measures
  • Liaising with and providing support to network users (around 60 all in all) to troubleshoot hardware, software, network and system issues and ensuring availability and reliability
  • Taking ownership of DR planning, operations and testing
  • Developing policies, procedures, user guides and other materials relevant to network and infrastructure

What you'll bring to the table:

  • Strong track record in the Network Engineer / Network Admin domains
  • Broad working knowledge of relevant technologies and tooling such as Windows servers, Active Directory ( AD ), network security / firewalls, etc.
  • Ideally, but not necessarily, some skills across Azure, Microsoft 365 and Dynamics
  • Good knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of infrastructure as well as change management, implementations, troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Ability to identify, learn and adapt to new technologies and assess their potential impact and usefulness

If you're up to the challenge, and like the idea of joining an organisation with a great track record of looking after their staff who offer remote or hybrid working depending on your preference, and a friendly team of like-minded individuals who will allow you to use and build on your skills, apply now!

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnerships, pregnancy or maternity or age
