We are transforming our Digital Experience Mobile app and looking for an Android Developer to help up continue in this journey. The role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and delivering software for mobile apps as we move towards an Agile Software Development lifecycle. You will have specialised knowledge and experience in Apple platforms on customer-facing-apps

Principle responsibilities

As an Android Developer, you will work within a predominantly Agile/Scrum environment to contribute to the delivery of high-quality mobile apps. Working as part of the wider team, you will analyse, plan and implement development activities to meet deliverables. With an emphasis on high quality, the purpose of the role is to design, build, test and deploy the Virgin media Mobile app.

As an experienced Android Developer, you will work with the lead developers to deliver solutions as appropriate to meet short, medium, and long-term business objectives, whilst being an advocate for developing improvements across the team. You will be able to bring structure to complex problems and influence team execution across multiple platforms.

  • Professional experience across mobile technologies.
  • Considerable experience developing using Swift.
  • Significant background in user experience practices & patterns.
  • Deep understanding of writing Unit and UI tests.
  • Design and build a mission-critical Android application
  • Coach and skill-share with other developers
  • Support the progression to DevSecOps within the development community
  • Collaborate with other teams across the business and work with all development teams to create end-to-end products
  • Fix bugs in existing software and improve using the latest technologies
  • Unit-test code and work with QAs to create test suites

  • Types of interaction (Internal and External)
  • The impact of the interaction - e.g. liaison/consultation, or negotiation, or reporting

Required critical competencies and behaviours

  • Have extensive experience with the Android SDK with a comprehensive understanding of the application lifecycle, and OS integration
  • Experience working in an agile environment
  • Appium experience would be nice to have
  • Able to work under pressure to achieve goals

Required key skills (functional/technical

  • Experience with Kotlin essential
  • Experience with Git essential
