An industry leading organisation is looking for data engineers to grow its Technology and Design team. Our client has a number of exciting Oracle and Middleware upgrades in the upcoming year and they are committed to moving towards the Microsoft Azure Cloud for all their new and developing systems.

As a result, you will have an opportunity to join a motivated and dynamic Database Engineering Team.

The role:

Your daily focus is on ensuring that the availability and performance of Databases are in-line with business expectations and will include patching, performance tuning, back-up and recovery, maintenance and housekeeping. You will play a key role in finding opportunities to reduce cost and provide proactive monitoring of databases on the estate

You will be the right addition to the team if you have existing Microsoft SQL Server skills and are looking to develop and broaden your technical career.

The key technologies/tools we use in the Database Team: Oracle, Linux, Windows, PostgreSQL, SQL Server and Azure DevOps

The Skills:

What you will need to demonstrate the following essential skills and experience:

    • Microsoft SQL Server and high availability.
    • Microsoft Azure Managed Instance.
    • Evidence of proposing or implementing efficiency improvements.
    • Great investigative and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to prioritise tasks and deliver to deadlines.

It will be nice if you have skills in any of the following:

    • Oracle WebLogic server installation and maintenance.
    • Knowledge of Databases running PostgreSQL 9.4 ->11 and PostGIS.
    • Skills in Oracle Database 11g - 19c, RAC and Oracle OEM 13c.
    • Familiar with RMAN with Catalog, ASM, Dataguard.
