My UK banking client requires an Environment Manager to help deliver multiple outcomes across a key banking platform.

Location: UK - remote working.

Duration: 6 months.

Area: Debt Management Transformation programme (DMTP).

What you will do:

You will manage and support a set of end-to-end environments used by the Platform's applications to enable successful implementation of Platform change and deliver customer value, with design and delivery adapted to meet a dynamic continuous deployment approach.

Role is also to contribute to and managing Debt Manager & internal Debt Manager related environments required to meet the needs of our customers, ensuring alignment to the DMTP.

  • Making sure the Mainframe environments are engaged in timely and cost effective manner.
  • Looking for opportunities for continuous improvement, reducing toil, and establishing observability.
  • Working with teams across the programme to implement your ideas.
  • Providing environment support to programme teams to support the development & test activities.
  • Engagement with third party vendor to manage the third party cloud hosted Debt Manager.
  • Building and leveraging relationships with colleagues across bank to make sure decisions made are commercially focused and create long term value for the organisation.

Skills required:

Ability to understand how your area of expertise supports customers, from the core development of technology to risk based decisions. On top of this, we require a clear understanding of infrastructure layers or stack, and a broad knowledge across multiple platforms such as server, operating system, virtualisation, database, middleware or network.

Along with experience of contributing to road-maps and strategies and working closely with third parties on assurance of their output, resources will need the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to your peers and management level colleagues, with good collaboration and stakeholder management skills.

You will also demonstrate:

  • A good understanding of IaaS, PaaS, SaaS and cloud technologies.
  • A basic understanding of infrastructure technologies i.e. Connect Direct, integration patterns, file transfer options i.e. Connect Direct, Data Power, SFTP PGP Encryption etc.
  • A good understanding of scripting languages.
  • A good understanding of REST API/Microservices.
  • Experience of driving through technology change in a complex environment.
  • A good understanding of environment management techniques.
  • A good understanding of Agile methodologies paired with working knowledge of the Agile tool-sets and experience of working in an Agile team.
  • Strong stakeholder management and excellent communication skills.
  • The ability to relate everyday work to the strategic vision of the platform and domain.
  • A clear understanding of the DevOps mind-set, collaboration, automation and tooling.
  • It would be good to have knowledge around Informatica, UNIX, SQL queries etc.
