Contract Data Scientist / Financial Modelling / Finance Data

We are currently seeking an exciting opportunity for a Contract Data Scientist to work for a leading global tech organisation in Cambridge. Working on a contract basis until March 2021, the successful candidate will be working within the Finance function with a focus on providing new business insights to senior leaders and exec. They will combine internal and external data sets to build business and financial forecasting models using statistics and machine learning. The candidate will be working as part of a business analytics team working alongside business analysts, data analysts, data scientists, data engineers and platform engineers.

The successful candidate will be required to carry out the following tasks.

  • Define business problems and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver predictive models
  • Work with colleagues and identified stakeholders for collaborative data acquisition, modelling and deployment
  • Data Acquisition: Acquire data through pipeline development situated on varying environments and technologies. Wrangle data for exploratory data analysis, visualization and model preparation
  • Modelling: Perform feature engineering for primarily regression problems. Assess models of value proceeding to design, implement and validate models as appropriate whilst ensuring constant stakeholder engagement and strategic alignment.
  • Communication: Presenting distilled findings to leadership whilst communicating technically and simply to technical colleagues.

To be successful in this role, you will hold experience in the following:

  • Experience running experimentations, communicating results and iterating on main products
  • Experience designing, implementing and testing Predictive Analytics models
  • Experience with Python, SQL, Pandas and statistical packages such as Scikit-learn, Statsmodels and others
  • Experience of delivering data science projects with a wide array of business stakeholders and data sets (commercial, financial, sales data etc)
  • Experience with data visualisation tools and packages, PowerBI, Tableau, matplotlib, seaborn, Plotly.
  • Experience of financial modelling - revenue, opex, cashflow, P&L etc
